Let’s talk about MEDS

Let’s talk about MEDS

One important part of our philosophy here at Eimele is your overall health, if you want to be healthier and feel AMAZING, take your MEDS every day.

When we say MEDS we refer to:

Mindfulness

Be it meditation, relaxation, or spirituality. Having mindful moments every day is very important to manage stress levels and provide us with the tools to cope in when challenge comes our way.

For most, this year has been particularly challenging leaving many of us frazzled and anxious.

When we’re in this heightened state, we can often turn to comfort eating which in turn creates a vicious cycle of tension and anxiety.

By finding time to unwind and have a mindful moment throughout the day is critical for your health and wellbeing.

Exercise

We recommend that you work out three times week at a moderate-intense level (20-60min) and incidental exercise on the other days.

Research shows that exercising for just 20 minutes a day to a moderate and intense level, not only burns calories and improves muscle-tone, but aids in better sleeping, reduced stress levels, increased brain power and better choices in diet.

Diet

Our experts recommend following a predominantly whole food, plant first diet, not overeating, and enjoying meals in a social way.

Our meal plans ensure that your calorie intake is less than 1,000 calories a day creating a calorie deficit and ensuring weight is lost.

When formulating Eimele one of our expert panels greatest considerations was around delivering our customers with nourishing meals whilst maintaining a calorie deficit. We realized that many of the weight loss solutions on the market, while certainly helping people get into a calorie deficit, were missing the essential nutrition that humans require to thrive.

The reality is, that although these products may deliver a weight loss result, they deplete the body of vital nutrients and more often than not lead to the person feeling lethargic, drained and zapped!

With that in mind we created calorie-controlled meals that contain the optimal ratio of carbohydrates, protein and fat (50% carbs, 30% protein and 20% fat) whilst containing dietary fibre and 16 essential vitamins and minerals.

Each of our meals are rich in highly digestible plant protein providing your body with the amino acids it requires to synthesize protein, whilst helping to keep you satiated during your weight loss journey.

Our expert panel felt it was important to provide meals that are rich in unsaturated fats whilst being low in saturated fats, which is generally accepted as the gold standard for reducing one’s risk of cardiovascular and other chronic diseases. The unsaturated fats help your body absorb and transport the fat-soluble Vitamins A, D, E and K.

A healthy source of carbohydrates is crucial for adherence to any diet long term.  Decades of learnings from low carb diets such as the Atkins and Ketogenic diets, as well as clinical trials and scientific research, have shown us that low carb diets are hard to sustain and typically result in the ‘Yo-Yo effect’ where a person’s body weight goes up and down during periods of carb restriction and inclusion. On top of that, we know that any calorie matched diet, whether low carb or high carb, will result in the same amount of weight loss (basic energy balance).

So, with this in mind, at Eimele we are advocates for the inclusion of healthy carbohydrates to create a sustainable form of eating that delivers long term weight management success. Unrefined carbohydrates, such as those found in legumes and whole grains, are regularly eaten by the longest living people in the world (Blue Zones).

Lose weight and improve your health simultaneously? Yes, we believe that’s the goal and one’s health shouldn’t be scarified to lose a few kilograms.

Sleep

We recommend between 7-9 hours per night with 20min power naps (if you need), deep breathing before sleep and a tip; have a hot shower before bed (the body goes into a deeper sleep on a falling body temperature).

A good quality night’s sleep is essential for health and weight loss.

When we lack sleep, we not only feel tired and irritable, but we tend to reach for high sugary snacks and carb rich foods to boost our energy levels, thus creating a vicious cycle of energy of weight gain and a general sluggish feeling.

If your sleep levels are sacrificed you may feel less inclined to work out which further sabotages your healthy living plan.

Yet, achieving at least 7 hours of good quality sleep will set you up for the day, making you feel energised and ready to tackle the day.

Fibre: Fact v Fiction
Increasing your fibre intake has various benefits. But what are they exactly? Fibre not only benefits digestion but can reduce the risk of chronic disease. That said, not all fibre is the same. There are two types of fibre: soluble and insoluble. Soluble dissolves in water and is metabolised by the good bacteria in the [...]
